History of the Indian Flag (Tiranga)
The Journey of the Tiranga: From Struggle to Freedom
Explore how the Indian National Flag evolved through history and became the symbol of India’s pride and unity.
🔶Early Versions of the Flag
The earliest concept of a national flag for India dates back to 1906 in Kolkata, where a tricolour with green, yellow, and red stripes was first hoisted. Over the years, several freedom fighters and leaders contributed to its evolution, shaping it into a national emblem of unity and resistance against colonial rule.

🔶Role of Freedom Fighters
Leaders like Pingali Venkayya, Mahatma Gandhi, and the members of the Indian National Congress played a crucial role in designing the flag. Each revision reflected India’s political, spiritual, and social transformation during the freedom struggle.

🔶Adoption of the Tiranga
On 22 July 1947, the present form of the Tiranga — saffron, white, and green with the Ashoka Chakra — was officially adopted by the Constituent Assembly, marking its final identity as the National Flag of Independent India.

🔶Quote of the day
A nation’s flag is the embodiment of its freedom, spirit, and sacrifice.
